Ras Lidj created his own brand and genre of Music, Regg’Go. The contemporary ancient fusion of Roots dancehall Reggae mixed with a Strong DC Go-Go pocket beat.

The success of the Ras Lidj Regg’Go Music 2019 EP title track song, “All to the East” becoming the official theme song for repatriation, as appointed by the commissioner of Repatriation, for the Rastafari Council of Ghana, lead to Ras Lidj receiving the honorable official endorsement title, as a “Cultural Ambassador” for the Pan African Federalist Movement [PAFM], in the fall of 2020.

Ras Lidj is a musician, songwriter, and performer stepping forward to uplift and unify his audience. A Nations Capital, DC native, seasoned music veteran artist, most recognized for combining vibrations of Roots reggae, the raw energy of Dancehall reggae, and the unique percussive elements of Washington DC’s own Go Go scene — Ras Lidj has a style all his own “Regg’Go”. In 1992, Ras Lidj received his name under the guidance and livity of Rastafari. That blessing added a new dimension to Ras Lidj the songwriter. As DC Go Go Music culture began evolving, Ras Lidj virtue and commitment to remain steadfast and grounded to the foundations, roots and belief, in his Rastafari Way of life experiences, continuously likening his Native DC Go Go music sound to his Roots and Culture, Dancehall Reggae experiences. His songs tell stories with a socially conscious edge, branding Regg’Go; A live show music experience, and a genre of its own to behold.

Ras Lidj was born a performer. Sometimes you’ll find him on the bass, sometimes on percussion, and usually somewhere near the microphone. Ras Lidj has performed in clubs and music festivals across the United States, and in Ghana West Africa, as well. He started in theater and later developed his musical side with artists and bands like Physical Wundors, cameo appearances with Little Benny and the Masters, DJ Lucky, and The Soul Defender Posse. He’s shared the stage with such artists as the Itals, 50 Cent, Junior Marvin and Mob Deep, to name a few. Upon returning to the Washington DC area in 2004, Ras Lidj released the “Baptismal EP” and formed his Regg’Go Band, to musically play and convey his lyrical message live. In 2007, Ras Lidj Regg’Go Band received the Dennis Brown Achievement Award, at the DC Area Reggae Music Awards. Also, released the “Live Raw and Uncut” CD/ DVD in 2008.


Joining in 2010, the singer Mia ‘Harmoni Black’ added a new dimension of vocal range and quality to Ras Lidj Regg’Go Band. Soon after, Ras Lidj Regg’Go Band arranged a Reggae version of Adele’s song “Someone Like You” with Mia on vocals. The Band’s version was aired on the radio in D.C. as well as the online radio stations. Fast forward, in 2014 and 2016, Ras Lidj ~ Regg’Go Band, performed at the Carter Barron Amphitheater located in Washington, D.C. Among numerous other festivals, they have performed at the People’s Reggae Festival in Wilmington, Delaware in 2014, at the Chesapeake Bay Reggae Festival in Hampton Virginia in 2016 and 2019 and at the Virginia Beach Reggae Weekend Fest in 2019. Early 2019, Ras Lidj – Regg’Go Band released 2 new singles. An original titled,” Rastafari Way”, and a Regg’Go version of the Reggae hit song, “Night Nurse”.

Recently in November 2021, Ras Lidj and Harmoni Black returned from their second trip to Ghana, where the live performance mini documentary and historical interview was video recorded. Currently as they continue to record, while performing regularly, Ras Lidj Regg’Go Band continue to strengthen their increasingly growing fan base locally and abroad.
